2 Peter 3:17,18
You therefore, beloved, since you know this beforehand, beware lest you also fall from your own steadfastness, being led away with the error of the wicked.
but grow in grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen
What is it that they knew beforehand?
That false teachers would come in great numbers in the last days, that there would be scoffers but God's Word is a sure foundation to build our lives upon and God keeps His promises!
We are assured that God's "..divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue,
by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust." (1 Peter 1:3,4).
The apostle Paul to ther believers in Corinth (1 Corinthians 15:58) "Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord."
Did you catch the word 'beloved' in those passages?
Always the writers of the New Testament gave expression to the love of the Holy Spirit toward those who were purchased and redeemed with such a precious price.
Thouhg we have been delivered from the bondage and power of our flesh (Romans 8), it remains our greatest enemy throughout our journey here. (Galatians 5:16-26)
That is why Paul wrote "And those who are Christ's have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires." (vs. 24)
Each day my greatest enemy must be put to death so that I may walk in the life of the Spirit. This means an absolute surrender of my will to God and His desires and purpose for my life each moment of every day.
How easy it is to slide back into old habits and practices that cause me to drift away from the promises of God, the desire for His Presence, the hunger for fellowship, and the diciplines that protect my Christian walk and security.
But God is always faithful to renew me and refresh me if I call upon Him in hope and trust.
And when I feel myself drifting I cry, "Abba, Father!" and He hears me and guides into safe harbor.
Be renewed in your faith today.
Be refreshed in the Spirit today.
Be crucified with Christ that He might live His life through you. (Galatians 2:20)
There is no greater joy that this world can offer.
I love you.
